May 25, 2011 Amanda + Phil = Stanley Park Sunset Session

There is a beautiful window of time for photography when the sun is dropping low on the horizon, and soft golden light illuminates all it touches. It is a great time to get outside and enjoy this magical glow, and on this perfect night we were lucky enough to have an Engagement Session scheduled with Amanda and Phil. Of course, by being outside at this time of night, sometimes it means missing out on a hockey game, but Amanda and Phil were still showing their support for the Canucks even if they couldn’t watch the game in real time. Hockey is really important to them as a couple, and it was cute to include this into their Session. While we were down on the beach, we even heard the roar of Vancouverites across the water cheering so we knew they were doing well, and we all raced home afterwards to start up our PVRs.  :)

May 20, 2011 Krista + James = Nitobe Memorial Garden Engagement Session

Pulling up to the Nitobe Memorial Garden for Krista and James’ Engagement Session, the sky finally opened up after a morning of rain (see Carlyn and Ben’s Engagement Session below), and we couldn’t wait to explore this gorgeous location with them.  Although Krista and James went to UBC, they never had the chance to visit the gardens until thinking of a special location for our Session. I’m so glad they decided to do their Session here, because this place seems like the perfect fit for them. Elegantly refined, peaceful, natural, and with an extra helping of sweetness, it was a dream to photograph. After our time in the Garden, we found a few more gorgeous spots around UBC including a “wishing tree” where people had left notes in a tree with their hopes and dreams. Now come on, how can you beat that as a setting for two people in love? icon wink Krista + James = Nitobe Memorial Garden Engagement Session

May 19, 2011 Carlyn + Ben = False Creek Engagement Session

Not even bouts of epic downpour and gusty winds could stop this Engagement Session. “After all”, said Carlyn, “we do live in Vancouver, what’s a little rain?” icon wink Carlyn + Ben = False Creek Engagement Session

Well, we got more than a little rain, but we also had Millennium Village almost all to ourselves, which gave us a great opportunity to introduce Carlyn and Ben to our cameras in a more private setting. Looking back at the images from that grey morning, I’m glad (OK, don’t hate me guys!) that it rained! Snuggled under an umbrella at the very spot where Ben proposed, finding access to a private rooftop garden that we wouldn’t have shot at otherwise, all while the soft glow of diffused light filtered through the clouds, made for a beautiful morning. And after all, it is Vancouver at its finest! icon wink Carlyn + Ben = False Creek Engagement Session

May 13, 2011 Jamie + John = A snowy Engagement Session in Gastown

Digging back in our archives to the snowy Engagement Session we had with Jamie and John in February, it seems almost fitting to be posting this now with the puzzling weather we’ve had lately – hail storms, horizontal rain, and gusty winds. All this lovely May weather we’ve been experiencing lately would be what most people would think a Session in February would be like, but instead, we had a blissful, almost entirely private Session in the usually busy location of Gastown, which was a nice introduction to get Jamie and John in front of our cameras for the first time.  After our first meeting with Jamie and John, Chris and I secretly hoped that we’d get to be the lucky photographers for this amazingly sweet couple’s Wedding at Hycroft Mansion in April. These two are down to earth, optimistic, compassionate towards others, and completely relaxed and at ease with each other, and we couldn’t wait to see these two lovelies tie the knot.  Their Wedding images will be up next week, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to sneak this post in beforehand to introduce you to them. Enjoy! H&C
