July 16, 2012 Terry + Marc: A Note from the Newlyweds!

Terry and Marc’s Wedding…

And now, a note (and some more pictures) from Terry and Marc about their June 2, 2012 Wedding at Sage Bistro, UBC!

When and how did you meet?

We met at work in 2006, at a diamond mine in Canada’s subarctic. On my first day of work, Marc came to pick me for orientation. We started dating after working together for 2 years.

Your Proposal Date and Story?

April 23rd, 2011. On our trip to Spain, Marc took me to the Retiro Park in Madrid and proposed while we sat on a park bench. He suggested going to the park after a long day at the museum. I told him I didn’t want to go because I was tired but am glad he persuaded me otherwise!

What was important to you when planning your Wedding?

To both of us, it was important to keep the wedding small and intimate. We wanted to spend time with every guest and wanted them to feel that their presence on our wedding day was truly valued by us. We both felt that decorations and photography were critical to the wedding atmosphere as well.

Favorite Wedding Details?

The music played by musicians during the ceremony, our wedding cake, the high ceiling of the venue and the sunshine that graced us with its presence on that day.

Favorite Wedding Moment?

Photo shoot in Gastown prior to the ceremony. It relaxed our pre-ceremony jitters and we had fun with our wedding party and photographers.

Do you have any suggestions/tips for other couples on their Wedding Day?

Plan as much as you can before the day, but on the big day, follow what you have planned but if something is out of sync, just go with it (chances are you won’t even notice it because the day is so busy). No one else knows what something was supposed to look like or when something was scheduled to happen. Enjoy the day with each other and all your loved ones.

Anything else you’d like to mention?

Of course, thanks to Chris for not only being a great photographer (we got to hit up all the photo spots we wanted!) but also for doubling as our wedding coordinator for the day!

July 11, 2012 Carly + Scott = Wedding at Redwoods!

Have you noticed that when you meet a lovely couple, they also come from beautiful families, and have strong wonderful friendships with the people around them? Well, Carly and Scott are no exception. Although we couldn’t control the weather that day, we didn’t let the rain have a starring role. It was this fun and loving couple who quietly took the stage, and had the beautiful, perfect Wedding that they deserved.

A little rain never scares us…not that we prefer it or anything, but it is just one of the many elements of the Wedding, and is part of the Story. It created a cozy intimate feel for their ceremony and reception, listening to the rain dance while safely under some dreamy white tents.

July 6, 2012 Lindsay + Bernie: A Note from the Newlyweds!

We are really excited to offer this Season a space where our Spark couples can reflect on their Wedding Day, tell their Wedding Story in their own words, and offer other couples some inspiration and words of wisdom along the way. And what would a post be without some pictures?! We are always curious which images resonate the most with our couples after they are delivered, and this seems to be a great way to satisfy our own curiosity, and perhaps yours as well!

First up –  Lindsay and Bernie on their Vancouver Convention Centre Wedding – May 26, 2012!

When and how did you meet?

We met in 2007 through a mutual friend from UBC.

Your Proposal Date and Story?

Bernie proposed on December 20, 2010. Knowing how much I love Christmas, he took me on the Stanley Park Christmas train. Under thousands of twinkling lights, he proposed . . . and actually got down on one knee on the train! My response: “Oh my god, YES!”

What was a favorite image from your Engagement Session?

The ones lying in the grass…

What was important to you when planning your Wedding?

We wanted a classy, timeless wedding, but most importantly, we wanted everyone to have fun! We were excited to celebrate our wedding with all our family and friends, and wanted everyone to have an amazing time. For Bernie, food and music were the most important elements. For Lindsay, the photographers and venue were the biggest decisions.

Favorite Wedding Details?

Favorite Wedding Moment?

Definitely when Bernie surprised me by singing a song to me with the band at the reception :). I was so surprised, and it was one of the sweetest things he’s ever done. It felt like a fairytale!

Do you have any suggestions/tips for other couples on their Wedding Day?

Enjoy the day and don’t stress out about all the details. At the end of the day, you’re marrying the person of your dreams, and that’s all that matters.

Anything else you’d like to mention?

Thank you to Chris and Heather for being amazing photographers, and part of our special day! We are thrilled with how our photos turned out icon smile Lindsay + Bernie: A Note from the Newlyweds!
